Better Beginnings

Free Prenatal Support program including a postpartum component. Education and support focusing on prenatal nutrition from pregnancy through to six months after birth. For pregnant and new mothers, of all ages, including those in high risk situations.  Participants enjoy healthy meals, interesting education sessions, meeting other pregnant women, free prenatal vitamins, breastfeeding support and more. Big Brothers and Big Sisters

Mentors are role models who spend time with a young person. They are matched with children and teens in the community or schools for the purpose of building a supportive friendship. Child Development

The Child Development Consultant serves families of children with extra support needs from three to five years of age and who are not actively receiving services from the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre (FVCDC) – Supported Development Program. The Consultant assists families in planning and coordinating therapy services for their children that they are receiving through the FVCDC. They support families through the process of developing and implementing a plan that is based on the family’s priorities for their child.

Infant Development Program

A program that serves families with children from birth to three years of age who have developmental delays, diagnosed disabilities or are at risk for delays. Families with children under three years of age are usually introduced to the services from the Fraser Valley Child Development Centre by an Infant Development Consultant. The consultant, as the service coordinator, will support the family, help them set goals for their child, guide them as they incorporate suggestions into daily routines, and learn to become advocates for their child. The Infant Development Consultant will assist parents (who know their child best and are able to spend the most time with them) to interact and play in a way that will encourage development.

Kindergym (3 TO 5 Years)

An independent pre-school gymnastics class for girls & boys. Children will learn fundamental gymnastics skills on the floor, balance beam, vault & bars.

Right From the Start

Right from the Start (RFTS) is an 8-session parenting course designed to enhance parents’ skills in reading infant cues and responding sensitively. The course uses attachment theory as a framework and active adult learning principles. RFTS is appropriate for any parent or caregiver of an infant under 24 months.
