The Chilliwack CYC meets monthly at the Neighbourhood Learning Centre on the first Tuesday of the month from 9am to 11am.
EARLY YEARS Sub-committee
The Early years subcommittee is made up of 20 different agencies and organizations who seek to foster community participation and support a service delivery system that enables all children 0-5 years to thrive.
Our Guiding Principles:

MIDDLE YEARS SUB-COMMITTEE
The Middle Years Subcommittee focuses on the needs of children and youth ages 6-12 years. Core members are representatives of community programs, organizations, and government funded programs that have some mandate in connection to children at risk in the middle year age group (in Chilliwack).
The committee has developed and is guided by a strategic plan and an action plan, with the goals to:

YOUTH MATTERS SUB-COMMITTEE
The Youth Matters Subcommittee focuses on the needs of youth ages 13-26 years and seeks to develop a comprehensive, coordinated system of community supports to increase the health, safety, welfare, and security of youth by:
- Identifying and developing a community wide continuum of supports and services for youth
- Identifying populations of youth
- Strengthening communications
- Promoting a comprehensive and coordinated asset-based approach to services.
Youth Matters has two working groups:
- Youth Advisory Committee
- Sexual Exploitation Awareness Community Action Team (SEACAT)
ANNUAL CONVERSATION STEERING COMMITTEE
A committee that represents 8-10 different agencies to plan for the annual conference each April. They meet every other week from November to March and then weekly for the month of April.
TRAUMA-INFORMED COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE SUB-COMMITTEE
The Chilliwack Community of Practice table is currently focused on Trauma Informed Practice. Each month a different video is shown highlighting the effects of early childhood trauma, brain development, and trauma informed practice. After the video there is group discussion on how to implement our learning into our work with clients.
EVERY DOOR IS THE RIGHT DOOR (EDRD) SUB-COMMITTEE
Every Door is the Right Door is an initiative of the Chilliwack Child and Youth Committee to ensure that children, youth, and their families are receiving the supports they require in a timely manner. No matter which agency door a client may knock on, they will be directed to the services that best meet their needs.
This committee is responsible for planning the delivery of the EDRD workshops in the community as needed.
An EDRD award is presented to one agency at the Annual Conversation that has integrated or is working towards integrating the six EDRD principles:
- Willingness to offer services at times and locations that best meet the needs of those being served.
- Developing community service and program provider orientation for new staff.
- Supporting staff with access to web based local services and program directory access and orientation.
- Supporting staff to participate in cross agency committees, networking events and local training.
- Encouraging a spirit of empathy by creating awareness in service providers of the difficulties and barriers those accessing services may encounter.
- Reinforcing collaboration amongst agencies which includes co-location and Care Team participation.

CLINICAL SUBCOMMITTEE
Representatives from Child & Youth Mental Health (CYMH); Adolescent Day Treatment Program (ADTP); Short Term Assessment Response Team (START) (Fraser Health) and SD33 plan and promote coordinated and collaborative, clinical and educational programs and integrated practices which benefit children, youth, and families.
