YOUTH ENGAGEMENT TOOLKIT (Workshop A)
Presenter: Dawn Johnson- Regional Youth Engagement Coordinator, Coast Fraser Region, MCFD

In early 2009, a group of adults and youth came up with the idea to create a means of measuring Youth Engagement in practice within MCFD.  Out of that idea, a collaborative partnership between youth, MCFD staff, and the University of Victoria was born to create the Youth Engagement Toolkit.  The toolkit is a set of resources designed to assess, promote, support, and strengthen youth engagement practice within an organization.  In this presentation adults and youth from the project team will share with you their experience in developing a strong youth-adult partnership through their work on the toolkit.  They will also introduce you to the toolkit itself, from its early development to where we are now. You will learn:

  • How to develop strategies to engage youth
  • How to give youth a “voice”
